New Music Friday (11/13/2020)

I could go down a Camp Crystal Lake joke or mention (Killer music out today) but how about we just get to some great new music today. Check out new music from the following:

- AC/DC – There’s not much that sounds different from the amazing AC/DC and that’s a good thing! Solid, hard rock, thundering sound from the boys. Check out the track “Shot In The Dark”

- The Quakers - Made up of producers Supa K, 7STU7, and Fuzzface, aka Geoff Barrow of Portishead, The Quakers new release allows some of the best rappers in the game to run wild over 33 tracks of heady, collage-like beats. Check out the track “Fa Real”

- 2 Chainz – The star-studded new one from Chainz continues his evolving sound, his humor and his cred. Check out the track “YRB”

- Katy J Pearson – A stunning debut from the alt-country artist. Reflective lyrics and an angelic voice highlight the songs from Pearson. There’s a Stevie Nicks/Tanya Donnelly sound to her voice. Check out the track “Hey You”

- BENEE – A New Zealand singer and songwriter gainer her popularity back home through various Tik Tok videos, later winning four New Zealand Music Awards in 2019. Her debut alt-pop release is poised to thrust her into the US charts. Check out the track “Plain”

- Nané – Do you missing dancing, forgetting about all the cares in yer world, feeling good? Let Nané restore your faith in music and the human spirit with their killer grooves. Check out the track “Much Too Much”

- Randall Bramblett – The soulful Georgia singer’s tenor is in fine form with his latest batch of tunes. Bramblett was first noticed in the early 1970s for his knack on sax and keys. Gregg Allman, Bonnie Raitt, Traffic, and the Blind Boys of Alabama are among the many whose music he’s enhanced over the decades since. Check out the track “Rocket to Nowhere”

- Meg Myers – Great new release from the alt-pop performer who takes influence from Kate Bush and Sinead O’Connor. Check out the track “Breaks My Back”

- McFly – The pop-punk boyband, now in their thirties, is back with a fun, sugary release of tunes. Check out the track “Mad About You”

Today’s featured artist is Chris Stapleton, one of the best singer-songwriters out there today. Stapleton’s latest is a great batch of new songs that relies on his beautiful lyrics next to a country/rock/blues mix. His latest continues his trend in kicking country music in the teeth by combining classic sounds with modern ideas and lyrics. Some great contributions for this album include Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (probably Stapleton’s favorite band of all time).
