It’s New Music Friday – Here are today’s picks of the week, a song and an album that have caught my attention. Enjoy!

Today’s featured single is “Never Forget My Love” by Joss Stone

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the soulful British singer-song writer, but the wait is worth it. The new single is a preview of what’s to come for her new album due out in early 2022. Working with Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart (the duo wrote every song on the upcoming album and Stewart produced it), the song harkens back to the days of Dusty Springfield and Burt Bacharach. It’s a beautiful, sexy song and a great welcome back to one of the great voices out there.

Today’s featured album is An Evening with Silk Sonic by Silk Sonic

Back in 2017, Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars were on a joint tour through Europe when an impromptu, late-night jam session convinced them they should make an album together. Now, four years later and the release of a few singles, that album is finally here. It’s a classic throwback album for fans of both artists and those that love a good groove. With nods to greats like O’Jays, the Chi-Lites and the Sty- listics it’s a perfect blend of 70s soul and modern R&B. With “guest host” Bootsy Collins aboard, all the boxes are checked for a time-warp trip to funkytown. Check out the track “Fly As Me”.
