Born on this day in 1945, Neil Young embarked on a music career in the 1960s before joining Buffalo Springfield, going back to a solo career (along with backing back Crazy Horse), and then joining Crosby, Stills and Nash for a brief period before taking it solo once again.
His music style has changed from album to album, decade to decade, but Young has always remained an important voice in the music world. From the quiet acoustics to the sonic guitars, Neil Young was always there.
He worked with Joni and Pearl Jam (the highly underrated Mirror Ball). He got political and is the only artist in the history of modern recording to be sued for refusing to be himself (Geffen Records sued Young for violating his contract by recording "unrepresentative" albums).
I could never pick one Neil Young song to throwback to, so how about a Neil Young mix tape? Check it out here and in the meantime, enjoy one of my favorites.
So, happy birthday Neil Young - Long may you run.
