I Was A College DJ

Talking on the Rock Solid Podcast about the music I discovered in college made me do a deeper dive into this music that I still love to this day. Because for me, being at WVYC wasn’t just an extracurricular; it was a community and gave me purpose where every song choice mattered to me and every show was an invitation into a new sonic world.

Week after week, I’d cue up tracks from a carefully crafted playlist and dive into the mix — from new wave to indie rock to power-pop and deep cuts. There was something magical about hearing a song I loved come through the airwaves, knowing someone across campus or in town was listening, discovering, and maybe even nodding along.

We had three hour shifts back in the day, so I put together a show for you. Three hours of some of my favorite alternative music. From Buffalo Tom to XTC, 10,000 Maniacs to Violent Femmes. So check out Dave’s College Mix. And let me know what artists and songs you would add.
