You know what goes great together? Beer and great bar music from a live band. With songs you can sing along to - every word. That’s just what you’ll get when you see MotherCovr in concert.
The quartet features Dave Festini on vocals, Ricky Bustamante on guitar, John Rehm also on guitar and Mark Lee on drums. Formed in the Spring/Summer of 2021, the idea was to perform with two acoustic guitars and an electric drum kit so it would be easier to control their volume and play shows earlier in the evening.
My wife and I drove up to Lincoln Park, New Jersey recently to catch MotherCovr at the Sunset Pub & Grill. The place was hoppin’ with enthusiastic fans ready for a great night of music!
Their setlist is based in 90's alternative rock with some 80's and occasionally some 70's sprinkled in. The idea is to play songs that the audience really likes, but might not remember off the top of their heads. “We were trying to produce the reaction of ‘wow, I forgot about this one - I LOVE this song!,’” said Festini." A good example of this is the song "Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla.
And the setlist didn’t disappoint. The band played for three hours, entertaining and interacting with the crowd with one sing-along song after another.
Where did the name come from? It was Dave's idea - he and his wife, Nancy were traveling in the car and brainstorming names. “I wanted something short and memorable. It was John's idea to drop the second e and he designed the logo,” said Festini.
If you’re in the New York/New Jersey area, you’ve got a few more chances to catch their show - don’t miss out!
